CAT 2017: IIM Rohtak would be conducting the CAP

IIM Rohtak would conduct the Common Admission Process for the academic year 2018-20 for the second time. About 9 on 13 IIMs would be participating in the CAP Rounds for the year 2018. Last year too, IIM Rohtak conducted CAP Rounds for these nine IIMs, IIM Rohtak shall begin the Written Test and Personal Interview rounds for the candidates from February onwards and would continue the process until March. 

CAT Result

The participating IIMs would be IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Ranchi, IIM Kashipur, IIM Rohtak, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy and Udaipur. IIM Rohtak was the first among the new IIMs to coordinate the CAP for new IIMs in the year 2011.

The CAP Rounds shall commence once the CAT Result is declared in the second week of January 2018.CAP shall shortlist candidates on the basis of the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. In the Written Ability Test, the candidates would be tested for the writing skills by the experts conducting the examination. 

The exact dates for Written Ability Test and Personal Interview would be out in the public once the CAT Results are declared.

About 1.9 Lakh candidates had appeared for CAT 2017 out of 2.3 Lakh candidates had registered for the examination. Only about 3000 students would be getting into the IIMs. About 3250 candidates were selected for IIMs out of 2 Lakh test takers. 

The CAP 2018 would be conducted in cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai. Once the CAP Rounds are done, participating institutes would prepare their individual merit lists based on the IIM Admission criteria. The final merit list bearing the names of selected students would be released in the last week of March or April 2018. 

IIMs like IIM Nagpur, IIM Vizag, IIM Jammu, IIM Amritsar usually mentored by IIMs belonging to Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow and Kozhikode won't participate in the Common Admission Process 2018.

The CAT Answer Key was released recently and the candidates were allowed to raise objections relating to the same until December 9, 2017. The CAT Examination was conducted on November 26 and was convened by IIM Lucknow. The exam was overall rated to be difficult than the previous year. 

CAT Result is expected to be declared in the second week of January 2018. The marks scored by candidates across Slot 1 and Slot 2 would be normalized to get to a score with which the percentile would be equated.
