Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced that CAT 2018 to be held on November 25th 2018 and registration for the same will start from 8th August on the official website of i.e. iimcat.ac.in

CAT 2018 Registration Process:

The candidate who wants to take CAT exam has to register on the official website iimcat.ac.in and have to register themselves prior to 19th September 2018 by 05:00 PM.

Following steps can be followed for the same:

  1. Candidate needs to visit the official website and fill the required details for creating a user Id and password.
  2. Login on the official website with system generated id and password.
  3. Fill the application form with the details, chose the preferred city for examination center and make payment of the registration fee. Once the details are filled and payment is done application need to be submitted.

CAT 2018 Registration Fee:

This year CAT registration fee has increased from last year. General and NC-OBC students have to pay Rs 1,900 for registration, for candidates applying under SC, ST and PWD category registration fee is Rs. 950.

Registration of CAT 2018 is an OTP based process, and can only be completed by verifying the OTP generated and sent on the registered mobile number, user id, on the other hand, will be sent on the email id of the candidate provided at the time of registration. Password will also be sent on the mobile number of the candidate. For students out of India registration process is almost the same but instead of OTP and mobile number verification process, they will get all the credentials on their given email id.  There is no limitation of using the system generated Id and password, the candidate can do multiple logins from their credentials and edit the information in the form as many times as needed. However, once the payment or registration fee is submitted no changes are possible and the application will be submitted. Once the application is submitted there will be a limited time slot given to candidates during which they can modify some details like Percentage of Marks scored, Work Experience, and Programmes Selected. In case any student fails to submit the application before 05:00 PM of 19th September his or her application cannot be entertained and they will be restricted to sit for CAT examination of that particular session.

If a student has forgotten their Id/password or hasn't received any on the registered email id or mobile number click on the option of  Forgot User ID/Password on existing User login page. The page will be redirected to the segment where email id given at the time of registration need to be entered followed by a Captcha string. The new password or user id will be sent on the registered email address. Candidate's helpdesk can also be contacted on the numbers given at official website between Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. To 6:00 p.m.(Excluding national holidays).

Eligibility to apply for CAT 2018:

  • Candidates with a graduation degree in any stream or an equivalent educational qualification recognized by Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • 50% of Aggregate marks for the students applying with General and NC-OBC category, for candidates applying through reserved or PWD category the required aggregate is 45%.
  • There is no age limit for eligible candidates if they are fulfilling the above-mentioned criteria.

Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by the IIM in other words it's a pylon for taking admission in any of the 20 IIMs or any other recognized Institute for Management studies across India be it DMS IIT, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, JBIMS Mumbai, and SPJIMR Mumbai, among others. This year IIM-Calcutta is conducting the exam in aid of other 20 IIMs and Professor Sumanta Basu will be Convener for the same. There is no change in Exam pattern this year making it easy for the aspirants to plan and prepare. CAT being such important exam and with the increased number of the applicant, this year there will be 147 test centers in different cities across India, said Mr. Basu.
