After April, Is NTA Going to Postpone JEE Main 2021 Exam for May Session As Well?

By: Avantika Bhardwaj on April 22, 2021

JEE Main 2021 – The April session i.e. phase 3 of Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) has been postponed due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. An official notification released by the NTA on Sunday gave clarification on postponement of JEE Main 2021 Phase 3 examination. The decision has been appreciated by lakhs of students and their parents. After the postponement of April session, students are still confused about exam yet to be conducted in May. Students have even asked the NTA to clarify if JEE Main 2021 May session will be conducted or not.

JEE Main Admit Card was supposed to be released during the third week of April which has also been delayed.

JEE Main

JEE Main 2021 is being conducted four times a year. The exam was successfully conducted for February and March session. In the wake of current situation of COVID-19 across the country, parents of students have asked center to come up with an alternative option to conduct the examination.

Will JEE Main 2021 May Session be Conducted?

The order passed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) which is the conducting body of JEE Main Exam, states:

“Looking at the present situation of COVID-19 and also taking into account the safety and wellbeing of candidates and examination functionaries, it has been decided to postpone JEE (Main) April session [scheduled from April 27-30].”

Students who have been preparing for the exam for the past one year are complaining about the uncertainty arising due to the alarming COVID-19 situation.

The NTA, in its official notice, declared the postponement of JEE Main 2021 April session, but there is no clarification on JEE Main 2021 May session. JEE Main 2021 for May session is scheduled to be conducted from 24th May 2021 to 28th May 2021.

  • The chances of suspension of May session are quite high if the current situation continues to persist.

Why is it Disappointing?

Though the decision came as a sigh of relief for lakhs of JEE Main Aspirants, yet there were students who are disappointed with this decision. Students who were looking forward to improving their score in this third attempt seem to be very disappointed. Starting this year, JEE Main exam is conducted four times a year i.e. students are allowed to take exam four times unlike two until the last year. Even during the last year, special arrangements were made to conduct the exam amidst covid pandemic situation.

However, the NTA has assured that the revised dates of JEE Main April session will be declared at least 15 days before the commencement of the examination.
