Thangavelu Engineering College Details

Thangavelu Engineering College was established in the academic year of 1995 by Ponniamman educational Trust located in old Mahabalipuram and was moved, after a few years, to Karapakkam (Chennai). It is approved by the All India Council for technical Education (AICTE) and has been recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Thangavelu Engineering College accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is an ISO-9001:2008 certified institution and some of the programs such as Engineering, Technology, MBA and MCA are affiliated to the Anna University.

Some of the most important aspects of Thangavelu Engineering College are given as following:

  • Seminars- The college invites top academician and professionals in the field of engineering and management. These sessions are conducted to enhance students' skill and help them put forth their ideas for the betterment of society.
  • Institution- Industry Interaction Cell- this cell conducts various events and activities that bring students closer to the industry culture.
  • The library of the college has almost 28,000 books of the latest edition. These books are informative and provide accurate information related to the respective subjects.
  • There are 11 laboratories in the college equipped with the latest technology and 10 workshops.

The college offers ungraduated as well as post graduate programs. Thangavelu Engineering College Courses are offered under several specializations. Depending on the candidates' interest, the seats are allocated.
Thangavelu Engineering College Admissions are needed to be completed online by visiting the official website of the college. There are different eligibility criteria for different programs.  According to the university norms, the admission procedure is based on the cut off marks of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The students are ranked based on their performance in the last qualifying examination and a merit list released by the college. According to the merit, the students are called in for counseling.

  • Candidates seeking admission to BE and B. Tech must qualify Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission examination with a valid score.
  • For admission to the postgraduate programs offered by the institute, the candidates must appear and qualify TANCET examination conducted at the state level.

The eligibility guidelines for admission to UG and PG are defined by the Government of Tamil Nadu and Anna University.

  • Candidates seeking admission to B. Tech or BE must have passed senior secondary school with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics securing at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • For admission to the programs offered at the postgraduate level, the candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in the relevant field securing at least 50% marks in aggregate.

The training and placement cell of the college has collaborated with many reputed companies and organizations. The cell conducts various activities and events that eventually help students enhance their skills. The students are recruited based on their academic performance and participation in the events conducted at the college. Companies that have visited the college are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, etc.

Strictness overload

Faculty: A lot of the stuff was to be done on our own and doubts were not clear
Placement: No job placement provided
College: One of the most disciplined and strict college the faculty was okay we had to do a lot of stuff on our own no job placement is provided and we have a strict dress code for both men and women
