Overview 5/5

I’m a Second Year Computer Engineering student here at KJ Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology, and would like to post an honest review about my college. I’ll be breaking it down into different aspects with a focus on brevity and urge you to refer the ones you’re inquisitive about. College Infrastructure and Facilities: There are well equipped and up to date labs in the college, supporting all that our vast curriculum has to offer. The library is stocked plenty and has all the books one might need during their academic life, also you get access to various online learning platforms like NPTEL and Coursera. There are also student hostels for Non-Domicile students. In terms of Sports, the college boasts an Astro turf, Football ground, Cricket ground with flood lights, Skating rink and a lot more. The college canteen serves decent food at just the right prices. You can also use all the facilities of our Vidyavihar campus including gym and library. Departments: Being a part of the Department of Computer Engineering myself, I can vouch for the well formedness of the curriculum, our faculties and staff, who are intellectual and professional but also the most supportive and believe in a practical and effective approach when it comes to teaching. And I can assure the other departments are right on par with us. Faculties encourage us to do projects and participate in competitions like Smart India Hackathon. Extra-Curriculars: The college hosts chapters of 7 technical committees like CSI, IEEE, IETE etc, which organize events all year round, with the main focus on the Technical Fest- Renaissance, every odd semester. There are also various clubs like New Leap Initiative- working on developing a prototype satellite in association with ISRO, NSS- A social service body under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Green Club, Infinite Loop- A coding club, Dramebaaz- a must join for drama and acting enthusiasts, and many more. Last but not the least, there’s the Students’ Council, the biggest college student body which helps students hone their skills in various domains and organize the Sports Fest- “Score” and the Cultural Fest- “Surge", something that students of not just our college, but a multitude of other colleges look forward to, every even semester. Our college has also adopted a village where we visit sometimes to offer our share of help. Location: Located in the heart of Mumbai, the college is easily accessible as it is located right off the Eastern Express Highway. The student hostels are located just 5km away in the Somaiya Vidyavihar campus, and are well connected with the college via an hourly bus shuttle service. The college is also in close proximity to both Sion and Chunabhatti station. It also has Somaiya’s College of Physiotherapy and Hospital in the very same campus. In conclusion, I’d like to say this is definitely one of the best colleges in Mumbai, rightfully claiming that award from the University of Mumbai last year and I am glad to be a student here, and also a part of the Somaiya Family.$I’m a Second Year Computer Engineering student here at K. And these subjects are compulsory in first year. So be ready to get your mind deep fried in these two subjects. I wish i never encountered that teacher ever again in my life.
