About IISWBM:
The Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management is a self-contained graduate business school located in Kolkata, India. It is India’s first institute to offer an MBA degree. The seeds of IISWBM were sown in 1942, when the British government, in need of skilled labor officers for its facilities, particularly its ordnance manufacturers - the Second World War was underway - decided to establish a social welfare training college associated with and adjacent to Calcutta University.  Â

According to "India’s Best B Schools 2014" published by Business Today, it was placed 34th among management schools. According to the Economic Times B-School Survey, IISWBM was ranked 37th overall and 33rd in human resource management. The institute has the AICTE’s approval and is connected to the University of Calcutta. It is the first institution in Asia to provide an MBA degree. It provides a number of graduate, postgraduate diploma, short-term, and research programs in a range of specializations. The college offers post graduate degree in management and the admission are based on entrance exam such as CAT, MAT, GMAT, XAT, ATMA, and Group Discussion Personal Interview(GDPI). The IISWBM features a student activity facility where the students can interact and take part in a variety of activities on the recreational front.
