Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Tiruchirappalli Details

The Indian Institute of Management (Tiruchirappalli), mostly referred to as IIM Trichy or IIMT, was established in the academic year of 2011. It is a public graduate business school that was founded with the approval of the Government of India. It is one of the thirteen IIMs in India and one of the seven IIMs set up during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan. The institute was previously guided by IIM Bangalore and was later given ‘Autonomous’ status. The institute has also been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is an institute of national importance.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked IIMT 15th in management school ranking.

The infrastructure of IIM Tiruchirappalli is spread over an area of 173 acres providing all the basic amenities inside of the campus. According to the broader perspective of IIM Trichy, the campus consists of hostel facilities, a library, classrooms, cafeteria, recreational facilities, and sports facilities. The students of IIM Trichy are provided with a facility called Learning Resource Center which is equipped with various learning sources such as books, newspapers, electronic resources, magazines, etc. The entire campus is enabled with Wi-Fi making information accessibility easier.

The institute conducts various guest lectures to keep students updated. Besides, the institute conducts several events on a yearly basis. The cultural and management fest held at the institute is ‘Dhruva’. It is conducted during October every year and in November an entrepreneurial summit known as E-Summit is held.

IIM Trichy is a public business school that offers postgraduate programs in management. The IIM Trichy Courses include Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM), and Post Graduate Program in Business Management (PGPBM). The institute also offers Fellow Program in management (FPM) at the research level. These programs are offered under various specializations. The students seeking admission to IIM Trichy can choose specialization they wish to pursue their career in. For admission, the candidates must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the institute. Any candidate found not suitable will not be given admission. The IIM Trichy Admissions include filling of application form by visiting the official website of IIM Trichy and qualifying the respective entrance examination. The admission procedure varies from one program to the other. Following are the key points one should remember while applying for IIM Trichy:

  • Candidates seeking admission to PGPM or PGPBM must possess a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field securing at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • They are required to have qualified CAT entrance examination followed by personal interview round and Written Analysis Test.
  • While the candidates seeking admission to FPM must possess a Master’s degree with 55% marks in aggregate.

The placement trend of IIM Trichy is quite impressive. Many reputed companies visit IIMT every year. The aspiring candidates are shortlisted based on their academic scores. The IIM Trichy Placement and training cell has good collaborations with many national and multinational companies. The highest package offered at IIMT was 31.70 LPA while the average one remains to be at 13 LPA.
