  • Commencement of classes of the Central University of Jammu Winter/Even Semester will be from January 3, 2024
  • The CUET UG examination dates for 2024 have been released by NTA and it will be held from May 15 - May 31. 2024. The application form is expected to be released in the first week of February 2024.
  • The CUET PG examination will be held between March 11 - March 28, 2024. The application form is now out and the last date to fill the application is January 24, 2024.
  • The JEE Mains (first session) is expected to be held between January 24, 2024 - February 1, 2024. The second session will be held between April 1, 2024 - April 15.
  • The CAT examination's official answer key was released on December 8, 2023. CAT have been declared on December 21, 2023. 

The Central University of Jammu came into existence in 2011, established under the Central Universities Act, of 2009.  The first academic session (2011-2012) commenced with three postgraduate courses in English, Economics, and Applied Mathematics at Temporary Academic Block-I. At present the university offers various Undergraduate/ Postgraduate/ Ph.D./ Diploma/ Certificate programs. The Central University of Jammu is located at Village Rahya – Suchani (Bagla) in District Samba of J&K, approximately 24 km away from the Jammu-Tawi Railway Station, 25 km from the Jammu Airport, and around 7 km from the National Highway. CU Jammu is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).  It has been accredited with a ‘B++’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. The Central Univesity Jammu campus is well connected through local and state transport. The faculty and students as a collective community are committed to discovering and sharing knowledge, as well as addressing the challenges that our world is facing. Central University of Jammu (CUJ) Admissions 2023

The Central University of Jammu admission for the academic session 2023-24 for all courses shall be made based on merit through the Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, in some courses, Central University Jammu may conduct its own Entrance Test subject to the approval of the competent bodies of the university after the conduct of CUET. A candidate shall be considered for admission to a program and be eligible to be a student of the Central University of Jammu only after they have completed all the required formalities.

The Central University of Jammu admission for the UG and PG programs is based on the scores achieved by the candidates in their CUET examinations. However, some courses may require separate Entrance Tests. For admission in the B.Tech programs JEE Mains scores are taken into consideration. Central University of Jammu (CUJ) Infrastructure

The Central University of Jammu boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure such as smart classrooms, well-equipped Research laboratories, and Lecture Theatres. The university has a fully automated library that is stocked with an adequate amount of learning material. Some of the facilities provided by CUJ are:

  1. Internet and ICT Labs: The University is equipped with seamless Wi-Fi connectivity and students can access the Internet through their laptops and other devices. CUJ also has three ICT labs with high-end PCs.
  2. Gymnasium: The campus has established a fully equipped gymnasium with the latest machinery and equipment.
  3. Seminar Hall: The university has a well-equipped Seminar Hall with a seating capacity of 170. The Committee rooms are available for conducting official meetings, seminars, and other academic activities.
  4. Library: The Library caters to 21 departments. It has a collection of more than 27000 books, 50 print journals, 5118 online e-journals, 277 e-books, Newspapers, and magazines. It also includes 10 computers for Research scholars and students to access e-resources and the Internet.
  5. Laboratory: The Central University of Jammu provides state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to its students, faculty, and staff for carrying out teaching, research, and practical activities. The university has dedicated labs for various disciplines of Science.
  6. Healthcare Facility: Medical facilities with full-time Doctors and nursing staff are available for the students, staff, and faculty of the university at its campus.
  7. Canteen/Cafeteria: The university has a spacious, airy canteen where students and teaching faculty get an opportunity to have neat and clean food.

Central University of Jammu (CUJ) Admission Criteria

The Central University of Jammu offers various UG and PG programs in the fields of Arts, Commerce, Science, Education, Mass Communication, Social Work, and more. The admission process involves the following.

  • The selected candidates shall be required to produce, original documents for verification at the time of reporting or on the last date prescribed for completion of admission.
  • In the case of a candidate who is already in employment, require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer mentioning that the employer has no objection to the candidate's admission at the Central University of Jammu.
  • In case of a gap between the qualifying examination and the year seeking admission for more than one year, the candidate shall be required to submit an undertaking indicating the reasons for such gaps and the activities they were engaged in during this period.
  • Candidates whose results of the qualifying examination are clear in all aspects on the last date prescribed for admission will only be considered by the university for admission.
  • Candidates will be required to submit their original Migration Certificate within the prescribed time frame otherwise their admission shall stand cancelled. 
  • A candidate shall be considered for admission to a program and be eligible to be a bonafide student at the university only after they have completed all the required formalities for admission including payment of the prescribed fees. 
  • If the candidate fails to complete the admission formalities by the prescribed date, they will automatically forfeit their admission.

a) To be eligible for admission a candidate must secure a minimum of 45% of the aggregate marks in class +2 level of a recognized Board of School Education or an equivalent grade/NSQF certification level, admission to the first semester or level 4 of bachelor’s vocational degree program under NSQF can be made as per following categorization unless otherwise prescribed by Advisory Committee of Bachelor’s of Vocational Degree Programmes and approved by Academic Council:

Category 1: Candidates who have already acquired the prescribed NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) certification level in a particular industry sector and opted for admission in the bachelor of vocational degree program under the same sector for which he/she was previously certified at the school level.

Category-2: students who have acquired the requisite NSQF certification Level but may like to change their sector and may enter into the B.Voc course in a different sector.

Category-3: Students who have passed the 10+2 examination with conventional schooling without any background of vocational training.

Category-4: Students who have qualified for an equivalent examination from a polytechnic in the same field may also be considered eligible.

b) Equal weightage, at par with other subjects, would be given to vocational subjects at +2 level while considering candidates for admission.

M.Tech.Computer ScienceCandidates should have a B. Tech. / B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering / Information Technology/Electronics and Communication or M.C.A or M.Sc. (Computer Science/IT). In addition, candidates of the General & OBC category must have secured at least 60% marks at the qualifying degree level; but for SC/ST/ PwD category candidates, this percentage is 55%. GATE-qualified candidates will be preferred. 
M.Sc.Environmental Sciences The candidate must hold a B.Sc / B.Sc. (Hons.) degree from a recognized university with not less than 60% of total marks (55% in the case of SC/ST and persons with disabilities) with relevant subjects such as Zoology / Botany / Chemistry / Physics / Life Science/ Earth Sciences.
M.Sc.Biotechnology Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology / Microbiology/ Biochemistry / Botany / Zoology / Bioinformatics / Pharmacy / Life Sciences/ any other allied discipline as one of the subjects with 60% marks or equivalent grade (55% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) from the recognized University/Institute.
M.Sc.Material Sciences and TechnologyCandidates should have a B.Sc./ B.Sc. The Central University of Jammu offers Research Degree programs full-time and part-time in various specializations. Candidates are selected based on their performance in the entrance exam and in-person interview. Applicants must be graduates of an accredited university with a Master's Degree. The Departments conduct their own Entrance Test and Interviews. JRF/NET/SLET/SET qualified candidates shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test.
