The JEE Main Fever is back to strike the engineering aspirants this year. With a high surge of applicants coming in session on the session to get into one of the best engineering colleges in India, there is a high level of competition and pressure among students to familiarize themselves with the exam and attempt it at their competitive best.
The Joint Entrance Examination also is formerly known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination is convened by the Central Board of Secondary Education every year. This competitive exam is the basis for determining admissions to the NITs and IITs. The
JEE Main exam is scheduled in the month of April 2018.
In 2017, the total number of candidates who had registered for JEE Main was 10,15,349 for the pen and paper based examination while about 1,83,640 candidates had registered for the Computer-based Examination or online test.
Here are a few details that a candidate applying for the JEE Main should familiarize himself with.
The candidates are required to fulfill the following JEE Main Eligibility criteria:
1. The JEE Main aspirants are required to be born after October 1, 1993 (25 years) to be able to meet the eligibility criteria. The age criteria for those belonging to SC/ST/PwD age criteria has been relaxed by 5 years.
2. Candidates must qualify Grade 12 Examination in the year 2016 or 2017. Candidates appearing for Grade 12 exam in 2018 can also apply.
3. General Category Candidates should have scored a minimum of 75% marks or should be in the top 20 percentile in their Grade 12 or Equivalent examination. The qualifying marks criteria belonging to SC/ST is about 65%.
4. Candidates should have taken a minimum of 5 subjects in their 12th Grade or equivalent examination.
5. Every candidate should be in possession of an Aadhaar Card.
6. Engineering aspirants can apply for JEE Main a total of 3 times.
JEE Main Application form would be released by the CBSE in the first week of December 2017. JEE Main Application Form would be available for a month and a half. Prior to filling JEE Main Application Form, a candidate is required to keep ready documents related to qualification, scanned photograph and even signature. JEE Main can be attempted by the candidates in an online and offline mode by all the candidates apart from filling the application form.
The important features of JEE Main Exam Pattern are as follows:
· JEE Main 2018 would be consisting of two papers. Candidates can take one of them or attempt both the papers.
· Paper 1 would be held for Bachelor of Technology and Paper 2 would be held for Bachelor of Architecture.
· JEE Main 2018 would be consisting of Multiple Choice Questions and would be conducted in the following languages – Urdu, Hindi, Marathi, English and Gujarati.
· The JEE Main entrance exam would be conducted in two modes – online and offline.
· The total marks set would be 360 for a total of 90 questions. Every question would carry 4 marks while ¼ marks would be deducted for incorrect answers.
JEE Main Admit card
The JEE Main Admit card would be available in the third week of March 2018 who have submitted their application form within the correct time frame. JEE Main Admit Card 2018 would be available online for all the candidates to be able to download. Candidates would have to enter their application details and date of birth to have access to the JEE Main Admit Card.

4. Personal details – Name of Parent, Email address, Mobile number

JEE Main Result would be made available by CBSE tentatively in last week of April or May. JEE Main Result 2018 would be made available for Paper 1 in the last week of April while for the Paper 2, the result would be made available in the last week of May.
The following steps are mentioned as follows to be able to check the JEE Mains Result:
1. The JEE Main Result link would be required to be visited.
2. The JEE Main roll number and Date of Birth would have to be entered and submitted.
3. The JEE Main result would be made available which can be downloaded and kept for future reference.
JEE Main Rank List is the list that would be containing details about All India Ranks and Category ranks. Previously, JEE Main Rank List and the result would be announced separately but since the last year, the rank list would be declared along with the JEE Main result.
The JEE Main Cutoff determine the basis of admitting the candidates into Engineering courses. JEE Main cutoff is the minimum score that Engineering aspirants have to score to be considered eligible for admissions or JEE Advanced. JEE Main Counselling usually begins in the month of June and would continue through July. JEE Main Counseling would be conducted by JoSAA 2018 which would also be conducting seat allocation procedure to enable admission to IITs. The JEE Main Counseling and seat allotment procedure would also be conducted online for enabling admission into 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 GFTIs which are the participating institutes of JEE Main.
