CAT Results have established a new trend in comparison to that of the previous years. A lot of non-engineers had made an entry to the Top 20 league. Top 20 CAT Toppers have been inclusive of three non-engineers and two female candidates. This is in comparison to the last year, wherein all 20 toppers were male engineers.
A lot of reasons have been shared on the same. Popularly agreed by a lot of people, Quantitative section was known to be an easy section and being the easiest so, a lot of candidates have emerged holding 90+ percentile.
This change in the profile of the top 20 IIM Toppers have been tried by IIMs for a long time. CAT, which was conducted by IIM Lucknow this year, is the gateway to top other B-schools such as FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon and SPJIMR.
The CAT Result was announced for 1.9 Lakh candidates who had taken the test across various cities in India. The CAT was conducted by IIM Lucknow on behalf of the 20 IIMs in India which together offer around 4000 seats in different 2 year full time PG Management programmes offered by them.
There has been a general increase in the count of female candidates who had registered for the CAT Examination which resulted in female toppers scoring above 99 percentile in the examination as per an exclusive interview of Collegesearch with Lovey Choudhary.
He also a lot of candidates who were not successful in the CAT previous year have attempted the paper for a second time, owing to which there has been an increase in the candidates scoring 90 percentile and above.
There have been candidates who have scored a complete 100 percentile in the CAT Examination and slashed all CAT Cutoff records. This as per a lot of candidates is owing to the fact that candidates who attempted the morning slot of the examination have had the scaling done a little easy. A candidate scoring 200 overall as raw score would have a normalized score of 215-220 as per Saipraneeth Reddy, a CAT 100 Percentile scorer in his interview with CollegeSearch.
A lot of toppers also are inclusive of CAT Coaches and tutors who have given the examination to understand the pattern of the paper which would been proven competitive to students and resulted in their percentile drops.
A lot of students have taken to social media to complain about the CAT evaluation procedure. This could be owing to a difference in the scaling of the morning slot and the evening slot varying on the difficulty level of the respective slots.
While the Quantitative Ability section across two sections have been easy, the DILR Section was a little easy in the afternoon slot. This would have ensured that candidates who scored well in the DILR Section in the afternoon slot would not have had an advantage in terms of the sectional cutoffs as everyone would have compensated through the Quantitative Section.
This time, a lot of objections had been raised in the CAT Answer Key but all of them have been rejected by the IIMs. The CAT result was announced as indicated earlier on 8 January 2018. The IIM Officials had also suggested the none of the objections filed on the CAT Paper had any kind of merit.
The CAT Answer Key had been released for the first time in the history of online testing by CAT. The decision to deny all objections raised was after a committee contemplated the same and took a decision.
