BCA Eligibility

The eligibility criteria of BCA course is mentioned below: -

  • Must have passed Class 12 in any stream from a recognized university with a minimum percentage between 45 to 55 and, with English as a subject (pass percentage may vary in different colleges).
  • Candidates can get admission on a merit basis, a written exam, or on the basis of a personal interview. This also varies from college to college.
  • Apart from merit-based admission, colleges conduct entrance exams such as CUCET, SET, CUET, etc. for BCA in India.

BCA Eligibility: in Top Colleges

The eligibility of BCA course varies on the basis of different colleges. The detailed criterion of eligibility of the course is provided below:-

Christ University

To study this course is Christ University, the candidate must pursue the below mentioned eligibility criteria: -

  • At least 50% in the 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Maths with Bio/ Computer Science/ Electronics.
  • One who has not studied Computer Science must have had Maths, Computer Science, Business Maths, or Electronics as a subject.

Those who are intrigued by the application of computers and software and love to code should try getting admission to Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, popularly known as SICSR. Different methods of teaching are used here like role plays and quizzes to make the learning experience more fun and easier. The programs offered are at Undergraduate and postgraduate levels such as BCA, BBA, MBA, and MSc.

  • A candidate must have passed 10+2 or Diploma in Engineering & Technology.
  • One must have completed their 50% in their 12th.

Loyola College

The eligibility criteria of Loyola College is mentioned below: -

BCA Eligibility: After 12th

Some universities have set their own eligibility criteria to offer admissions in the BCA program. These criteria must be fulfilled by the candidate in order to get BCA Admissions to the desired college.

  • Bachelor of Computer Applications is an undergraduate degree that is pursued after completing higher secondary education (12th) from a recognized board.
  • Any candidate who has completed his/her 12th with passing marks in 10+2 can pursue this course. No stream is required to pursue this course.

BCA Eligibility: for Commerce and Arts Students

Some colleges may ask for Mathematics/Computer Science /Computer Application as a mandatory subject in 10+2. Please note that the eligibility criteria for the BCA course vary from one college to another.

  • You can pursue a BCA degree after completing 12th from the Commerce stream. AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) has set no such criteria for the BCA course on the basis of the stream.
  • The candidate doesn't need to have a science background to do this course.
  • A commerce-based candidate can also pursue this course.

BCA Eligibility: Without Maths

Although students from any stream can apply for the course, some colleges prefer to take students from a science background. If not Science, students must have studied Mathematics and Computer Science at 10+2 level.

BCA Eligibility: Lateral Entry

A few universities offer BCA Lateral Entry admissions to those students who have completed a diploma in computer applications with a minimum aggregate of 45%.

BCA Honours: Eligibility 

The candidates need to have cleared the HSC (10+2) examination from any discipline with English as a passing subject with at least 45% marks at 12th standard.

BCA Eligibility: Specializations

The eligibility of the course of BCA varies based on the specializations. Further, the details of the same are mentioned below: -

  • BCA in Artificial Intelligence

Pass in Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all subjects with a pass in English from a recognized Board of School Education or equivalent.

  • BCA Data Science & Data Analytics

Pass in Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all subjects with a pass in English from a recognized Board of School Education or equivalent.

  • Distance BCA

1. A minimum aggregate of 55% in their 10+2. 

2. There is no age limit to applying for the course.

3. Some institutions may require entrance exam scores for admission to the Distance BCA course.

Candidate must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50%.

BCA: Admission Process

The admission procedure of BCA course is either on the merit basis or on the basis of the marks secured in the entrance exams. Universities such as GGSIPUJNUSymbiosis and Christ University hold their own entrance examination. Whereas, on the other hand, there are some varsities that accept admissions on the merit basis, such as AmityKristu JayantiSt Joseph's and Madras Christ College that accept admission based on their merit.
